Canback Global Income Distribution Database

Over the years, companies and managers have come to rely more and more on the Canback Global Income Distribution Database (C-GIDD). C-GIDD’s uniqueness lies in the quality and completeness of our GDP and income distribution data, which covers 212 countries, 694 subdivisions (states, provinces, etc.) and 997 major cities from 2000 till 2025.

Within each of these geographic units, income data is not only available at the aggregate level. You can also find how many individuals or households there are within an income bracket or socioeconomic class. C-GIDD is the only database that provides this information.

The econometric development and data collection efforts started in 1994. In 2008, C-GIDD is commercialized and launched its first edition online. Since then, major updates are made twice a year in May and November when the IMF releases its GDP forecasts. A mini-update is made every year in January after the UN releases its global national accounts update.

Much effort is put into the database to keep it up to date. Data is collected from more than a thousand different sources. Once raw data is collected, sophisticated econometric models are used to harmonize the data and find true income distribution at city level.

With comprehensive income distribution data across the globe, C-GIDD is a key resource for marketing professionals, strategic planners, management consultants, investment bankers, academic researchers and others who need globally comparable income data at a detailed level. A typical use of the database is to quantify the size of an available market. You can quickly find the number of households in certain income bracket or socioeconomic class using C-GIDD. Since data is provided with a uniform global standard, any two geographic regions in the world can be compared easily.

Recently, in response to requests from several of our regular corporate clients, we have begun developing and implementing dedicated C-GIDD portals. Each of these portals allows for customized datasets (e.g., income brackets in local currency or income brackets that shift over time), depending on clients’ needs and preferences. This, in turn, allows them to access information and apply it to their analyses in an extremely efficient and effective manner.
